Computing for Science and Education

The National Infrastructure for Distributed Computing (INCD) ensures the processing of large volumes of information from cutting-edge research projects, providing computing capacity beyond the capacity of the Research Centres themselves.

The infrastructure is especially suited to provide services in the field of scientific calculation, either in national or international projects.

INCD is one of the resources of the National Network for Advanced Computing, RNCA, which provides advanced computing services to the Research, Technology, Innovation and Industry communities.

Who is it intended for?

Institutions can join the INCD:

About INCD

INCD encompasses an integrated system that delivers its services from multiple locations, interconnected by a state-of-the-art network infrastructure.

The INCD is an evolution of the computing infrastructure established under the National Grid Initiative, and the result of a joint effort between FCCN and the National Civil Engineering Laboratory, LNEC, and the Laboratory of Instrumentation and Experimental Particle Physics, LIP.

The INCD is integrated in peer international infrastructures with which it shares resources, participating in the European Grid Infrastructure, EGI, the Iberian infrastructure IBERGRID, and the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid, WLCG.

Main services

  • HTC computing
  • Cloud computing
  • Grid computing
  • Storage / Storage
  • Virtualization
