Between 8 and 10 July, at the Lisbon Congress Centre, the research community will once again meet for its annual meeting.

Promoting a wide debate on the main topics and challenges of the scientific agenda (going beyond the research universe) is one of the main objectives of the Science Meeting 2019. For this reason, this meeting organized by the Foundation for Science and Technology seeks to "foster interaction between researchers, the business sector and the general public .

For the 2019 edition, the organization reveals, the guest country will be the United Kingdom. As such, representatives from Oxford University (Pedro Gil Ferreira) and University College London (Giovanna Tinetti) have been invited to speak.

The programme includes the recovery of some of the main scientific achievements in history - the 150th anniversary of the Periodic Table and the 50th anniversary of the first human landing will be highlighted, for example. On the other hand, Digital Transformation, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Skills will also be themes that will motivate debate and reflection.

Parallel sessions inspired by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defined by the United Nations (UN) and a session on the National Digital Skills Initiative (InCoDe2030 ) were also held.

The event is promoted in collaboration with the National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture Science Via and the Parliamentary Committee for Education and Science. It also has the institutional support of the Government through the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education.
