The Minho Advanced Computing Centre(MACC) is organising a training course on "Introduction to the HPC Programming Environment", which will take place online between 22 and 24 November 2021.
This course introduces the HPC programming environment, multi-thread programming (OpenMP) and the distributed memory model, using MPI to develop scientific, large-scale applications.
The course is intended for non-IT specialists, researchers or employees of private companies or public administration, who need HPC resources, on a daily basis, but are not familiar with HPC environments (access, use and programming).
The course material will cover:
● An overview of an HPC environment, how to access the system, prepare jobs for execution, send jobs for execution, send and retrieve data from the HPC system;
● Basic programming techniques for these types of systems, using OpenMP and MPI frameworks.
The participation is subject to the evaluation of the course organization, regarding the fulfillment of the programming requirements in C / C++ and basic Linux commands.
The course will be held in English, unless all applicants speak Portuguese. All support material will be in English.
Registration for this event is available until 14 November 2021.
