On February 16th, Centro Ciência Viva hosts the "Inauguration of the Next Generation RCTS" event, which marks the closing of the RCTS100 project .
Over the past five years, the RCTS100 project has strengthened the technological infrastructure of the national higher education, research and innovation system. On February 16, in Lisbon, a celebratory event will mark the official closing of the project and the official inauguration of a national Next Generation Education and Research Network.
The execution of the RCTS100 project ended at the end of 2022, after ensuring the extension of the optical fiber infrastructure and technological upgrade of the Science, Technology and Society Network (RCTS). Through these improvements it was possible to mitigate connectivity asymmetries in the national territory and also to internally empower the internal networks of nine public higher education entities.
The event aims to bring together the different participants in the Project, inaugurate the Next Generation RCTS and celebrate the technological upgrade of the internal networks of nine higher education entities.
This meeting starts at 9am, in the José Mariano Gago Auditorium, at Centro Ciência Viva, and has several activities throughout the day.
The RCTS100 project involved a total investment of 17 million euros, 13 of which came from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The dissemination of the project is inserted in the Technical Assistance Operational Program (POAT), framed within the European Structural Investment Funds (ESIF).
