Project Overview

  1. Objectives

The purpose of this project is to strengthen the investment that FCT has been making in recent years in science management (PTCRIS/CIENCEVITAE/CIENCE ID) and more recently in the area of open science, particularly in the management of research data. Thus, the development of the following activities is proposed:

  • Provision of infrastructure and services to support research data management. This activity aims to provide infrastructures and services to enable the research and education community to deposit research results in suitable data repositories.
  • Implementation of a national register of science and technology funding (SciPROJ). The purpose of this registry is to aggregate national funding in a database. This register will be made available as open data in order to encourage the sharing and re-use of this information.
  • Implementation of a national register of science and technology outputs. The purpose of this registry is to aggregate national outputs in a single database. This register will be made available as open data in order to encourage the sharing and reuse of this information.
  • Development of a business intelligence system Business Intelligencebased on the national publication and funding registers, to produce indicators to support management and decision support processes.
  • Monitoring system of the FCT open access policy. FCT has in place a policy of open access to the research results it funds. However, the level of compliance with the policy is low. This activity aims to promote this policy and its adoption, thus increasing the level of compliance and the potential impact of the research funded.
