The European Communication Infrastructure initiative will support projects carried out by educational or research institutions. Applications are now open.
Last month, GÉANT announced the call for applications for its latest innovation support initiative - the GÉANT Innovation Program. Under this call, the European infrastructure of national education and research networks invites all institutions linked to its community to submit a proposal for a project to be funded.
In total, the GÉANT Innovation Programme represents an investment of €300,000, and each project can be supported for up to €30,000 over nine months. All proposals that relate to areas or topics related to the GÉANT community, such as networking, cybersecurity or education, will be admitted.
"We particularly encourage the submission of proposals that demonstrate a significant social or scientific impact and that create benefits for the European education and research community GÉANT," explains the organisation, which exemplifies with some solutions created within this network: eduroam, eduVPN or eduMEET.
GÉANT also emphasises the unbureaucratic nature of the initiative. Proposals submitted will be evaluated on a monthly basis and decisions taken within six weeks at the latest. For this reason, the programme has two submission deadlines: 30 April and 28 May. After the notification of approval, the Financing Agreement will be sent within one week at the latest.
In Portugal, this program is being promoted by the National Scientific Computing Unit of the Foundation for Science and Technology. As such, those interested in submitting an application can contact the team at FCCN by emailing c.imagem@fccn.pt for more information.
