The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), through its Unit FCCN, is promoting the National Survey of Advanced Computing 2023 (INCA 2023). This initiative is mainly aimed at the National Science and Technology System and the National Innovation System and seeks to survey needs and then propose solutions to boost the area of advanced computing in Portugal.

The INCA 2023 is an important step to identify specific needs of the sector and guide the development of public policies aligned with the needs of the scientific and technological community. By collecting comprehensive information, the survey aims to understand the requirements of scientific computing, identify existing challenges and opportunities to boost research, innovation and technological development in several areas.

The results of the survey will be used to inform developments of the National Advanced Computing Network, a nationwide computing resource infrastructure, as well as for the review of the National Advanced Computing Strategy, which will take place later in 2023.

The Directorate General for Education and Science Statistics (DGEEC) and the National Innovation Agency (ANI) were involved in the operationalization of the survey. The involvement of research, development, and innovation (R&D&I) institutions is essential to ensure that public policies are built on a comprehensive and representative view of the sector.

The National Survey on Advanced Computing is requested to be answered by all institutions of the National Science and Technology System and is available to be answered online until July 18 at https://ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runner/INCA-2023.
