The FCCN Unit participates, with technological know-how, in the most recent digital literacy initiative promoted by INCoDe2030: the "Somos Tod@s Digitais" line.. With a technological support role, the FCCN Unit is joining the major objective of helping to connect the population with lower digital literacy to the virtual world, by helping to validate requirements, providing the necessary technical support and technical infrastructure to support the project.

The "We are all digital" line is an initiative of the INCoDe.2030 program that brings together the efforts of several national entities with the aim of helping the Portuguese population, with fewer digital skills, to better deal with the situation of social isolation in which a large majority finds themselves. At a time when the gravity of the Covid-19 situation imposes social and professional constraints, the changes in everyone's lives are enormous. A significant part of the population has increasingly used different digital technology solutions for different purposes, namely to mitigate the sense of isolation.

However, there are still a significant number of people in Portugal who, because they haven't had the opportunity to acquire basic digital skills, are more alienated from those resources. It is for them that the "We are all digital" project provides a free phone line (800 100 555). A vehicle through which people can request help from teams of volunteer mentors recruited from higher education institutions.

The main objective is to help promote greater interaction with family and friends, helping people to acquire some basic skills that will allow them to somewhat reduce the effects of the isolation to which they are subjected. To this end, INCoDe.2030 has the support of the NOS operator to run the helpline, coordinated by the Digital Transformation Colab (DTx), in conjunction with the Foundation for Science and Technology, through its National Scientific Computing Unit (FCCN). At this early stage of the project, the volunteers come from the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave (IPCA), with around 30 students, coordinated by 15 teachers.

In parallel, small explanatory tutorials were developed on the use of applications such as Skype, Whatsapp, Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and an advertising campaign is being developed for TV, Radio and Digital that will feature surprise influencers! The goal is to raise awareness for an essential cause, in a time of uncertainty and greater difficulties.

For Nuno Feixa Rodrigues, General Coordinator of INCoDe.2030, "INCoDe.2030 has already been following a path in Portugal in supporting the entire population with fewer digital skills. A support that goes through the pedagogy and dissemination of digital literacy to those who do not have a direct access to it. Naturally, the current context of COVID-19, with what it means for everyone, has accelerated the need to put this initiative into practice. While we are all bound to be more isolated, The We Are All Digital Line will be an essential vehicle to help many Portuguese connect to their families, friends, and the world in general. No one can be left without an answer and it is very good to already have the support of so many entities, highlighting here the role of NOS and of the IPCA ".
