Integration in Fundstat is carried out from the national SciPROJ register, included in the PTCRIS program - the initiative of the FCCN Unit that works towards an integrated and coherent scientific and innovation ecosystem, in which information on scientific activity flows between the various systems.

The FCCN Unit has begun the process of integrating the national register of funding allocated to R&D and Innovation activity in Portugal into Fundstat. This data infrastructure is part of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and gathers information from 22 databases in various countries, including Australia, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States and the European Commission.

Fundstat is a platform that enables analysis and international comparison of public funding for R&D and Innovation projects through artificial intelligence tools such as natural language processing. In addition to providing adequate information and indicators on funding, this infrastructure aims to analyze the direction of public funding, identifying emerging areas in science and technology.

The collaboration will allow the inclusion of information about Portugal in future studies conducted by the OECD and will provide information about the direction of funding in relevant areas, such as the Green Transition and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The role of the PTCRIS

This integration is carried out from the national register of S&T funding, developed under the PTCRIS program - the SciPROJ. This platform aggregates data from national (FCT, NSRF, Portugal 2020 and ANI) and international (European Union) funding that supports scientific and technological activities in Portugal.

SciPROJ is part of the objectives of PTCRIS, which focuses on the development of a normative framework for interoperability and support infrastructures with a view to integrating the scientific management systems of the various entities of the academic-scientific ecosystem, in close alignment with the principle "Register once, reuse several". These initiatives are aligned with the open data policy of the FCT and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education (MCTES).
