Launch of Arquivo.pt Award 2019 took place yesterday, at the Museum of the Presidency of the Republic.
A practically full auditorium saw the launch of the second edition of the Arquivo.pt Prize. The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, spoke at the event, highlighting this award as "extremely important", as it is "an invitation to innovation".
For the President of the Republic, there is also "a pedagogical component in this Award", as there is "a social and community gain" involved. "In good time this Prize continues its course", he added, guaranteeing his support for the initiative.
Earlier, the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Manuel Heitor, highlighted the symbolism of this session as a bringing together of different institutions. As for the Arquivo.pt Prize 2019, he recalled its value as a stimulus for "research and investigation works" on this resource.
The session also included a communication from the Manager of Arquivo.pt, Daniel Gomes, who presented this service of the National Scientific Computation Unit of the Foundation for Science and Technology, as well as the Prize that is now entering its second edition.
It is recalled that the Arquivo.pt Prize 2019 aims to distinguish innovative and/or useful uses for society of the Portuguese web estate preserved in Arquivo.pt, with a total of 15 thousand euros in prizes.
Applications are open until May 3, requiring the submission of a description of the work (up to 2000 words) and a short video (maximum three minutes in length).
