From 19-22 May, Lisbon hosts the conference that brings together the Open edX community to discuss the current status of this online learning platform, as well as research projects, best practices and new collaborative approaches.
The Foundation for Science and Technology and the Nova School of Business and Economics (SBE) are co-hosts of this international conference whose theme this year will be dedicated to "the future of work and the use of open technology to solve challenges", explains edX on its website.
Some of these challenges, which will be addressed during these three days, concern qualification, requalification and lifelong learning needs.
Founded by Harvard University and MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) in 2012, edX is the non-profit organization responsible for the open-source software that promotes open and massive online courses used in universities around the world, with around 14 million registered students.
The programme of this annual conference includes several case studies of innovative use of technologies in Higher Education, in companies and in state entities. On the other hand, it will be possible to learn about the main novelties regarding the production of courses on the Open edX platform and the main methodologies used.
